“Being a surgeon is stressful, for instance — but not in the same way. It would be like having another surgeon across the table from you trying to undo your operation.” — Wil Milner

The election of Donald Trump as 45th President of the United States came as a surprise to many. It has been compared to the recent Brexit vote when the United Kingdom decided to leave the European Union.
Nigel Shepherd, the chair of Resolution, an organization of family law solicitors in the UK, says that stress over Brexit is adding to pressure on couples on the brink of divorce.
“We have come across a number of families in this country because one them voted differently in the referendum,” Shepherd said. “They fell out in a big way because one voted for remain and one for leave.
“I suspect that was unlikely to have been the sole reason but we have heard of cases from a number of our members. It was a really divisive campaign. It pushed some couples. It was the last straw that made them think ‘we are really incompatible’.”
Will we see a similar phenomenon in the US among couples where one voted for Donald Trump and the other for Hillary Clinton?
